The European Respiratory Society (ERS) Congress 2024 spans five days and will be held in Vienna this September. To address the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence in medicine including pneumatology, the theme of the conference will be: Humans and Machines: getting the balance right

This means that priority topics will include the role of AI-assisted medical care, the changing role of doctor-patient relationships in light of technological developments and how healthcare systems and organisational pathways may be affected.

Meet the team attending ERS 2024

Dr Elizabeth Crone

Liz who is Head of Business Development, Research Products and Services Europe, will be attending the event. She has a strong technical background, with a biochemistry degree from Leeds University and a PhD from the University of Cambridge in biophysical chemistry, as well as several years consulting experience on technical innovation projects for companies like J&J, P&G and Shell. For the last decade, she has focussed on her passion: helping companies with potentially life-changing innovative technologies bring them to where they can be most useful. Liz now works in Owlstone, liaising with European-based companies and leading academics to help them explore and utilize breath as a biomarker matrix to advance their research.

Elena Piscitelli

Elena is a Business Development Executive at Owlstone Medical, specializing in working with and supporting academic researchers across Europe and the Rest of the World (excluding the Americas and Canada). Her focus lies in assisting researchers who are exploring the integration of Owlstone’s cutting-edge breath technology into their research endeavours. With a Bachelor’s degree in genetics, Elena brings a robust foundation to her role, which has been further enriched by an industrial placement year in the Rare Disease team at Pfizer.
