Date: 14 Jan 2025

Location: Online

We are looking forward to our next webinar in January 2025. Join this online event to learn about the integration of breath analysis in the development and optimisation of dietary protocols and assessing the efficacy of targeted interventions. Breath analysis could help to enable non-invasive precision medicine and symptoms monitoring for microbiome related diseases. Learn more about the innovative work being carried out by Owlstone Medical in this field.

Rui Lopes, Medical Advisor at Owlstone Medical will be presenting the below talk on the 14th January, 6:30 – 7:30pm (GMT) (7:30 – 8:30pm CET, 1:30 – 2:30pm ET, 10:30 – 11:30am PST).

‘Breath Analysis – A Novel Approach to Monitoring Dietary Intervention Outcomes’

This webinar will focus on how breath is a promising non-invasive biological medium for assessing gastrointestinal function and metabolic health, with two clinically validated and well established biomarkers: hydrogen and methane. Diet is the major determinant of hydrogen and methane production in the bowel with fermentable, microbiota-accessible carbohydrates largely driving hydrogen and methane production. By measuring hydrogen and methane levels in “real time”, clinicians can average out other sources of biological variability and gain critical insights into the gut microbiome’s response to their diet and clinician-implemented dietary interventions. This talk explores the integration of breath analysis in the development and optimisation of dietary protocols and assessing the efficacy of targeted interventions. Additionally, we will discuss the potential of combining novel real-time breath analysis methods with symptom tracking and lifestyle monitoring to further personalize therapeutic approaches.

Key takeaways from this webinar:

  • Breath analysis as a diagnostic tool
  • Personalised therapeutic approaches
  • Real-time measurements for clinical precision
  • Integrated care ecosystems within established practices.
