Introduction

The Breath Biopsy^® Collection Station provides the tools you need to collect high-quality, reproducible breath samples using Breath Biopsy. The Station includes the ReCIVA^® Breath Sampler for sample collection, the CASPER^® Portable Air Supply to exclude background contaminants from samples, and a laptop with the Breath Biopsy Collect software that allows you to operate the ReCIVA and provides visual feedback on sampling progress.

Each sample collection also requires single-use Breath Biopsy consumables. You’ll need a disposable Breath Biopsy Mouthpiece and the Breath Biopsy Cartridges which capture volatile compounds for analysis. If you are looking for a complete solution for reliable breath analysis, the Breath Biopsy Collection Station is available combined with sample processing and expert support as part of our Breath Biopsy OMNI^®service.

Breath Biopsy Collection Stations have been deployed in over 100 locations worldwide for research applications including respiratory diseases, liver diseases, cancer, and environmental exposures.

RECIVA

ReCIVA Breath Sampler

Owlstone Medical developed the ReCIVA device together with a multi-disciplinary group of world experts in breath research. Our goal was to enable reliable, reproducible, and non-invasive breath sample collection that allows consistent sampling across different clinical settings and research applications.

A laptop and Breath Biopsy Collect software are also provided to calibrate and monitor the ReCIVA device throughout the sample collection.

ROBUST AND REPRODUCIBLE

Each Breath Biopsy Cartridge includes four independent adsorbent tubes for simultaneous collection, providing multiple experimental replicates

SENSITIVE

Pre-concentration of volatile compounds directly from the breath onto adsorbent tubes allows more compounds to be captured per sample, increasing the sensitivity of the system to capture even low-concentration compounds

SELECTIVE

Breath pattern recognition means the ReCIVA can collect from specific breath fractions, allowing targeted analysis from different regions of the airways

CASPER

CASPER Portable Air Supply

The ReCIVA Breath Sampler is used in conjunction with the CASPER Portable Air Supply, designed to improve breath sampling by reducing the abundance of compounds from the environment being inhaled and detected in the breath.

The CASPER filters ambient air to be inhaled by subjects, helping to ensure more of the sampled volatile compounds originate from within the subject’s body, rather than the surrounding air.

CASPER is designed for portability and ease of use.

Breath Biopsy Consumables

We can provide all the consumable components you will need to collect breath samples using Breath Biopsy technology. This includes a Breath Biopsy Mouthpiece and Breath Biopsy Cartridge, which together fit into the ReCIVA Breath Sampler.

Breath Biopsy Mouthpieces are disposable and are coated to minimize sample contamination. They provide comfort during breath collection by forming a soft contact with the face while also helping to prevent sample contamination from the surrounding air.

Breath Biopsy Cartridges capture and stabilize volatile compounds from the breath. Cartridges can be shipped for analysis with our Breath Biopsy Services or stored for analysis in your own facility.
